Well the days are flying by. I finally got a new home page mocked up today. None of the info is correct, and there is still old stuff on the page, but let me know what you think of where I am going with the design.
We just installed Twitter Tools for WordPress and I am posting this blog post to test all of the cool functionality. Gotta go!
OK, I’m delirious from working on the computer. It feels like I got nothing done today, but actually… I did. I upgraded my WordPress blog, which does not sound like much, but the automatic upgrade would not work so it turned into quite a little project. You won’t notice anything different, but everything is working much smoother on the back end where I live. This morning, I finally got the databases transferred over so Mary’s akamaipromotions.com blog will now work in perpetuity. I really learned a lot today- venturing into totally new territory with WordPress. I really wanted to get all of my new website pages done today- but I didn’t even get started! I did get signed up with google apps and am looking forward to ditching Outlook tomorrow and defecting to google.
We also make more progress on the Halloween masks, adding a thin layer of a putty and glue mixture to try to smooth the surfaces. Sand and paint tomorrow.
After grinding on the computer all day long, we took a walk down at Keokea and continued to experiment with the new camera.

We also got out and about to the Kava Kafe to play some chess and experiment with the new camera in the dark lighting.

Day two was a major technical day. Mary and I both decided to consolidate our websites and blogs. I had www.coachandreadean.com and www.andreadean.com and decided just to focus all of my efforts on andreadean.com. We moved Mary’s wordpress site from akamaipromotionalstrategies.com to akamaipromotions.com. I have never moved a WordPress site from one domain to another, so that was a fun technical learning curve.
As for my site, I re-thought all of menu items and emailed the new menu and sidebar to Maya at Jelly Designs who does my custom design work. My website is a combination of a custom site and a WordPress site.
Whew! Late night…on the phone with the server hosting company for quite some time. We also got Mary’s new wireless skype headset working, which was an accomplishment.
My friend Mary and I get together a couple of times a year to work ON our businesses instead of IN our businesses. Mary owns Akamai Promotions- she is a marketing and communications consultant. My company helps businesses and communities move towards sustainability. We have a packed agenda this week- On the top of our respective lists is a re-doing our websites.
But fun is always on the agenda too, and we started today with going to Lighthaus Camera. Mary needed a new camera for taking photos to add to her Maui Events blog. Regina at Lighthaus Camera rocked, she was so knowledgeable about all of the different camera options and helped match Mary with a Canon Powershot SX1 IS. I am so jealous, but at least I get to play with it. I am using an old Canon PowerShot SD500, which has been a great camera, but is on its way out.
After that we went to the new Target in Kona to suss out a new couch for my office. We also tried the out the new camera. Wow- it is good- it even makes the cavernous Target look great.
After a few more errands in Kona and a little relaxing time back in cool, breezy Hawi, we went to Rebecca’s for Mask Making with Robin Mullin. Robin is a great mask maker and showed us how to make masks. We will be out and about on Halloween wearing our masks.
