In this podcast I interview Tom Baldwin. Tom and his wife Shannon Casey own Uluwehi Farm, a permaculture farm in North Kohala on the Big Island. Tom talks about what permaculture is and how it helps farms and homesteads to be more productive. Tom just got back from a trip to Australia where he sat at the feet of the permaculture master- Bill Mollison, the founder of the permaculture system. Tom will be sharing that new knowledge and his permaculture farm experience in January when he is co-teaching a Permaculture Design Certification course with Craig Elevitch and Nik Bertulis, the course starts Jan 5th.

Green Business in Hawaii- Kuleana Conference Hits One Out of the Park

Monday, May 11th, 2009

I may be a bit biased, since I was the Mistress of Ceremonies for the day, but I must say that the Kuleana Green Business Conference on the Big Island of Hawaii was great.

Keynote speaker Joel Makower (pictured at left), author of Strategies for a Green Economy and Chairman and Executive Editor, Greener World Media, which includes the popular GreenBiz.com, was great. Joel gave us a witty and incisive overview of today’s green economy.

Don Schaeffer, CEO of RSF Social Finance and founder of Comet Skateboards, was the other keynote speaker. Don had a conversation with us about the local economy movement, starting and running a sustainable business, and the revolutionary work of RSF Social Finance.

All of the speakers and panelists were great. I wish I could summarize it all for you, but next year you will just have to come! Here are links:

Green Networking Yoshi from Greenz.jp

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Last week I had the great pleasure of meeting Yosh Kanematsu from Greenz.jp.  Greenz.jp is a Media Activism & Global Network based in Tokyo. Greenz is a news provider for treehugger.com, yahoo! Japan and others, they also organize Earth Day Tokyo and Green Drinks Tokyo.

Yosh heard about my green business ideas and we met in Waimea where he interviewed me. Yosh was probably the first person that I have met that instantly understood the value of coaching in moving green businesses forward towards achieving their goals. What a great affirmation of this part of my approach.
